On the heels of The Off-Season, J. Cole drops the first visual off the album for "a m a r i."
The clip opens with Cole performing while a Dreamville helicopter flies overhead. He gets dressed up in a suit and fedora and heads back to college, eating ramen noodles in his dorm room while plaques line his walls.
In the end, a young Cole is seen trying to save his older self from falling off a ledge. The video ends with a powerful message: "Hold on to your inner child."
The video was directed by Mez, who also helmed 2019's "Middle Child." "This was the 1st thing I ever directed. Bro helped me start another side of my career," tweeted Mez.
The Off-Season is expected to debut at No. 1 on next week's Billboard 200 with 280-310,000 equivalent album units.
On Sunday, Cole made his professional basketball debut for the Rwandan Patriots in the opening game of the inaugural Basketball Africa League. Cole scored three points, three rebounds, and a pair of assists as his team defeated Nigeria's River Hoopers 83-60.
